Notes
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Business Administration in the Faculty of Business & Law, University of Saint Joseph, Macao, February 2024With the rapid development of China's economy and the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship policies, college students' entrepreneurship has become a hotspot of social concern today. Taking the Greater Bay Area as an example, this paper explores the influencing factors of college students' entrepreneurial intention, hoping to conduct an in-depth study on college students' entrepreneurship from a specific geographical perspective to provide new theoretical perspectives and practical references for the study of college students' entrepreneurship in China. This study empirically investigates the entrepreneurial intention of college students in the Greater Bay Area using a combination of questionnaires and field visits. By analysing the large amount of data collected, it is found that various factors such as personal background, personal traits, entrepreneurial attitude and entrepreneurial environment influence college students' entrepreneurial intention. Specifically, family economic status, educational background, gender and personal traits significantly influence college students' entrepreneurial intentions. These factors' degree and manner of influence are important insights for us to understand and promote entrepreneurship among college students. In addition, this study also found that factors such as social support, policy environment and school education influence college students' entrepreneurial intention to a certain extent. These external factors include macro factors such as social culture and economic policies and micro factors such as school education and family environment. This suggests that to promote college students' entrepreneurship effectively, we cannot only start from individual factors but also need to optimise the external environment and provide more support and assistance. In particular, this study also found that the Greater Bay Area's unique geographical location, policy advantages and industrial structure provide favourable conditions for university students' entrepreneurship. This further illustrates that the influence of geographical factors on university students' entrepreneurship cannot be ignored. Differences in different geographic regions may become obstacles and opportunities for college students' entrepreneurship. In conclusion, understanding the influencing factors of college students' entrepreneurial intention can help provide targeted support and services for the government, schools and society, thus reducing the difficulty of college students' entrepreneurship, improving their success rate of entrepreneurship and further promoting the development of college students' entrepreneurship in China. In future research, we will further deepen our understanding of these influencing factors to provide more theoretical support and practical guidance for researching and practising college student entrepreneurship in China Supervisor : Jenny Oliveros Lao Phillips
