This research mainly explores the current situation of Resource Teachers and the problems that are facing in private inclusive education schools in Macao. This research uses a qualitative research design to unveil the difficulty and the major impediments of Resource Teachers in Macao. This research collected data on a set of structured questions from 30 valid responses in total. For the qualitative inquiry, eight Resource Teachers in total participated in the interviews.
This research used the MAXQDA to analyze and summarize the data for qualitative inquiry. The main findings are as follows: a) The quota of the training courses for Resource Teachers was insufficient and the course hours are-lengthened; b) The current training courses were provided by instructors from the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), various areas of the training might not be applicable for the real-life situations that Resource Teachers faced daily; c) The in-class lesson of Resource Teachers adopts the policy that each trainee teacher would be assisted by an Inclusive Education trainer, cooperative-teaching is not used in most cases; d) resource teacher usually only provide feedback to regular class teachers, with no feedback returned other way round; e) The lower grade inclusive education students have fewer “pull-out” lesson and “booster” lesson; f) kindergarten resource teachers mainly adopt “sit-in” lesson with inclusive students with less “pull-out” and “booster”; g) with the amount of inclusive students, most of the schools do not have enough resource teachers and resource classroom; h) resource teachers are usually required to be multi-functional with administrative-related tasks that are not necessary teaching-related; i) a large proportion of resource teachers might not have the required experience in screening students; j) the number of cases assigned to each the resource teachers tend to exceed the recommended ratio by DSEDJ; l) the work of the resource teachers is stressful however self-actualizing.
This research has provides feasible suggestions and references for the government, schools, subject teachers, resource teachers and proposes substantive directions for future research 本研究主要探討澳門私立融合教育學校中資源教師的現況與問題,透過質性研究的方式來研究澳門資源教師所面對的問題。本研究利用一系列結構化問題,共收集了30個有效數據。對於質性訪談,共有8名資源教師參加了訪談。 本研究利用MAXQDA進行資料歸納處理和分析,並得出研究結果如下:(一)澳門資源教師培訓課程學額不足且學時過長;(二)由香港教育大學主辦的課程難以直接應用到本地學制;(三)澳門入班式課程以觀察和協助為主,較少合作教學;(四)澳門資源教師與普通教師為單向式溝通;(五)融合生年級越低抽離式課程和外加式課程越少;(六)任教幼稚園的資源教師入班式課程為主;(七)融合生過多資源教師和資源教室不足;(八)澳門資源教師的行政工作種類繁多;(九)澳門資源教師對於篩查疑似融合生並沒有相關經驗;(十)澳門資源教師跟進學生的數目超出了教育及青年發展局所的建議數量;(十一)澳門資源教師的工作高度緊張但從中獲得成功感。 本研究亦根據研究結論,對政府、學校、普通教師和資源教師,給出可行性的建議並作參考之用,並對未來的研究提出實質性方向。In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master in Education in the School of Education, University of Saint Joseph, JUN/2023Supervisor : Cathy, Hoi Ka Weng
